La historia sagrada de Israel  se encuentra jalonada por la alianza pactada entre YHWH y su pueblo, Israel;  alianza que garantizaba tierra, alimentos, prosperidad, descendencia a los hijos de Israel, a cambio de fidelidad al único Dios, YHWH.  No obstante, los hagiógrafos describen las infidelidades del pueblo de Dios y por consiguiente las dificultades que experimenta el pueblo para ser y vivir efectivamente como pueblo de la propiedad de Yahweh. A través de los libros Históricos Dios orienta la conducta y el destino de su pueblo elegido a través de los jueces, los profetas y los reyes.

 

En los Libros Históricos de la Biblia, se presenta, de manera teológica, la historia del pueblo de Israel, la conquista y posesión de la Tierra Prometida con todas sus vicisitudes, la historia del destierro babilónico así como el regreso a la Tierra, la incursión de la cultura griega y las repercusiones subsiguientes.

El curso de Salmos y Sapienciales se propone estudiar las generalidades, la estructura y la teología de los libros sapienciales y los salmos en relación con el mundo religioso del entorno, en los cuales nacen y se desarrollan los libros en cuestión.
